"Biblical counseling is unique in that it originates from Scripture and is sustained by Scripture. Because the Bible claims for itself that it is supernatural in effect to those that receive it's Truths (1 Thessalonians 2:13) it forms the very essence of the biblical counseling model. God's Word is and always has been the most effective tool in ministering to those who are in need and are hurting. We are not here to fix people's problems but are seeking to see people transformed by the Word of God and the power of the Holy Spirit. It is a process of moving a person from an emotional orientation to a spiritual one." - Jim Craddock, Founder of His Truth Transforms International

All scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. 2 Timothy 3:16-17

Whether our lives are calm or in turmoil, God’s Word infused in our lives, through His plumb line, allows us to be free indeed!  A plumb line is a tool that consists of an object of some weight, attached to a string or a rope. It is used primarily in construction to assure the structure being built is perfectly straight, perfectly vertical up and down. Therefore, assuring the alignment of the building is absolutely flawless in its standing upright and straight.

Symbolically, the plumb line (Amos 7:7-8) refers to the standard of justice and righteousness God uses to judge His people, as well as the standard He uses for rebuilding His people. Absolute flawlessness is accomplished for God’s people in their standing upright and straight because their standing is in Christ.

We are to put on Jesus, our plumb line, who is our standard bearer of justice and righteousness. Who in the beginning was the Word (John 1:1) and we are to bring our lives in accordance and adjust where necessary to the plumb line of the Word. The Word is able to divide the thoughts and attitudes of the heart for accurate uprightness of thinking (Hebrews 4:12). At any time we find ourselves out of alignment (out of plumb) we are to examine where our beliefs about our Heavenly Father and our beliefs about ourselves need to be fine-tuned according to the Divine plumb line, the Word of God. The Divine plumb line runs from God’s throne, through Jesus Christ, through the Holy Spirit, to the believer’s spirit and is perfectly true to the measurements and standards of God.

I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. Ezekiel 36:26.
